About Christ In Us the Hope of Glory

Faith Comes By Hearing

What Did Jesus Christ Say About Love?

Love is the cornerstone of Jesus Christ's teachings. In the Gospel of John, Jesus commands, "I am giving you a new command. You must love each other, just as I have loved you" (John 13:34, CEV). This directive emphasizes the importance of loving one another as a reflection of His love for us.

Understanding Love Through 1 John

The First Epistle of John delves deeply into the concept of love, providing guidance on how believers should embody this principle.

1. Love as Evidence of New Life

"My dear friends, we must love each other. Love comes from God, and when we love each other, it shows we have been given new life. We are now God's children, and we know him" (1 John 4:7, CEV). This passage highlights that genuine love for others is a sign of our relationship with God and the new life we receive through Him.

2. God Is Love

"God is love, and anyone who doesn't love others has never known him" (1 John 4:8, CEV). This verse underscores that understanding and knowing God is intrinsically linked to our capacity to love others.

3. The Ultimate Demonstration of Love

"We know what love is because Jesus gave his life for us. This is why we must give our lives for each other" (1 John 3:16, CEV). Jesus' sacrifice is the ultimate example of love, setting a standard for us to selflessly care for one another. YouVersion | The Bible App | Bible.com+1Bible Gateway+1

4. Love in Action

"Children, you show love for others by truly helping them, and not merely by talking about it" (1 John 3:18, CEV). Love is not just a feeling or words; it's demonstrated through our actions and willingness to help those in need.

5. Love Drives Out Fear

"A real love for others will chase those worries away. The thought of being punished is what makes us afraid. It shows we have not really learned to love" (1 John 4:18, CEV). Embracing love fully allows us to live without fear, knowing we are aligned with God's will.

6. Love as a Commandment

"The commandment that God has given us is: 'Love God and love each other!'" (1 John 4:21, CEV). This encapsulates the essence of Christian living—loving God and extending that love to others. Bible Gateway

7. Love as Obedience

"We show our love for God by obeying his commandments, and they are not hard to follow" (1 John 5:3, CEV). Loving God is demonstrated through our obedience to His teachings. Bible Society

Applying Jesus' Teachings on Love Today

Incorporating Jesus' teachings on love into our daily lives involves:

  • Loving Others as Jesus Loves Us: Striving to show unconditional love, patience, and kindness to everyone, mirroring Jesus' love. Bible Bible Society

  • Serving Those in Need: Actively seeking opportunities to help others, whether through volunteering, offering support, or simply being present.

  • Forgiving Freely: Letting go of grudges and extending forgiveness, just as we have been forgiven.

  • Building Community: Fostering relationships based on mutual respect, understanding, and love, creating a supportive environment for all.

Conclusion

Jesus Christ's message is clear: love is paramount. By understanding and embodying His teachings on love, we not only deepen our relationship with Him but also create a more compassionate and connected world. Let us commit to living out this love daily, reflecting the light of Christ in all we do.

Christ sacrificed His life's blood to set us free and because of this our sins are now forgiven.

1 John 1-10 cev 1 We write to you about the Word that gives life. He existed from the beginning. We have heard and seen him with our own eyes, and we have touched him with our hands. 2 When this life became visible, we saw it. So we speak of it and tell you about this eternal life that was with the Father and was then made known to us. 3 What we have seen and heard, we are telling you so that you may share in this life with us. And we share in it with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 We are writing to tell you these things, because this makes us truly happy. 5 Jesus told us that God is light and doesn't have any darkness in him. Now we are telling you. 6 If we say that we share in life with God and keep on living in the dark, we are lying and are not living by the truth. 7 But if we live in the light, as God does, we share in life with each other. And the blood of his Son Jesus washes all our sins away. 8 If we say that we have not sinned, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth isn't in our hearts. 9 But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make God a liar, and his message isn't in our hearts.         Christ in you the hope of glory - Christ in us the hope of glory- the Church of Christ
