Cast your fears and sorrows on Christ Jesus. Be true and sincere in your hearts, living according to His Will, and in doing so, accept all that comes before you. There is no possibility that the Lord has overlooked your faithfulness, so if you are faced with trials, you need only to trust that the Lord is creating a future for you which you may not yet be aware of.
Many times, we are faced with challenges in our lives, and we blame ourselves or others. We say things like, “Serves me right for ……” or “If that person didn’t do that, then I wouldn’t be in this predicament.” In this line of thinking we are failing to trust that God knows what He is doing, and to give in to His will. In Acts 28:4-5 Paul dad just survived the sinking of his ship, and ended up on Malta. “When the native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, ‘No doubt this man is a murderer. Though he has escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.’ He, however, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.”
Trials may come upon us, or to others in our lives, and we are all quick to think that we somehow deserved this, or that we are being faced with hardship due to other people’s failures. The bible has several instances to show us that our trials, are much more than that.
- In Acts chapters 27 & 28 Paul tried to urge the ships captains to delay the departure, but they refused to listen. As a result, Paul preached the Gospel in Malta, and he was able heal many people on a land he would have otherwise never thought to visit.
- In Genesis 45:5-8 Joseph tells his brothers, “And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life. For the famine has been in the land these two years, and there are yet five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest. And God sent me here before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth”
We all allow ourselves to be clouded by the weight of our troubles, and we create a foot hold for the devil to try and pull us from our Lord and Savior. No one is completely capable of letting go, if we could, we wouldn’t be human, and Jesus would not have had to suffer many things to redeem us of our sins. I am no different, and neither is your preacher, so don’t be too hard on yourself or anyone who had put you in a difficult situation. Instead, recognize that every trial put before you is a chance for our Lord to be praised with glory, for it is by His strength that we are able to overcome each and every difficulty. He will never give you more than you can handle, and He will carry you when you are unable to walk because the goodness of the Lord, will never fail.
Prayer suggestion: Heavenly father, thank you for all the blessings you have bestowed upon me. Help me to find peace in my troubles and accept that there is a greater plan in place which I am unable to perceive. Help me to humbly accept any changes you are making in my life, and strengthen me with your Holy Spirit, so that I may praise your eternal love. Please release me and everyone involved in my life from heavy yoke of worry and anxiety, and lead us according Your will. I pray this in the name of he who came before me, and bought my salvation with his blood. In the name of your Holy Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
